Playing the Greatest Music Ever Made

What about Rob?

I've been in the music business for more than 30 years, performing as a DJ and MC for various functions such as wedding's and parties. During the 1980's when Roadhouses were the "in-thing" I spent several years playing music for the roadhouse crowd.

The Radio bug also took me through 16 years of broadcasting. As an on-air music host I played easy listening to top 40 to classic rock and oldies and I also served as a music director, creating the playlist for the station.

The growth of technology has played an obvious role in music since I played my first gig in 1975. Not so long ago we had to run out to the record store to buy the latest hits; now it’s as simple as clicking a mouse. Today it seems anyone can play the role of a DJ especially with the accessibility of downloadable music files such as mp3’s and the use of a computer music program. But playing the role of DJ is not as easy as it looks, even with all the great technology available. I have heard the following story numerous times from customers thanking me for my knowledge and professionalism.

I was recently booked for a Christmas party by of all things a computer company. Last year they tried to do it themselves and in the words of the company "It was a disaster". This year they’ve decided to leave the work and responsibility to someone who has the experience, know how and proper equipment to do the job right so the staff can enjoy their Christmas celebration.

Music is the Heart of your Event

It’s probably your first time hiring a Disc Jockey. Who do you choose once you’ve called around asking "how much do you charge?"

Price is important in regards to your budget and getting value for your money. The price alone does not inform you of what kind of service you are paying for, therefore it should not be the only determining factor when considering any DJ service.

For your event to be successful, once you have be given a price you also need to ask:
Rob

  • Who will be the DJ at your event
  • Does the DJ take breaks to go outside and smoke
  • Does the DJ receive the full fee or only a percentage of what you are paying, If so what is that percentage (this will show you how much the DJ is really worth compared
    to what you’re paying)
  • Will the music you want played actually be played
  • What Kind Of equipment will be used,  a "good sound system" or DJ calibre equipment that brings music to LIFE

If you are not asking these questions or not getting real answers there's a substantial chance your event will fizzle.
